Josh Newkirk, a 6-foot-2 guard from Raleigh, N.C., gave Pitt a verbal commitment today.

Newkirk announced his decision via Twitter.

Newkirk, who visited Pitt over the weekend, is the second high school senior to give Pitt coach Jamie Dixon a verbal commitment. Mike Young, a 6-foot-8 power forward from St. Benedict's Prep, was the first to do so in early August.

Newkirk is the No. 119 prospect in the Rivals.com top-150. He is a senior at Word of God Christian Academy in Raleigh and had also been considering Georgia Tech.
