Coaches poll predicts sixth-place Big East finish for Pitt basketball

NEW YORK -- Pitt was picked to finish sixth in a preseason poll of the Big East coaches and freshman center Steven Adams was named preseason rookie of the year this morning at Big East media day at the New York Athletic Club.
Louisville was a unanimous selection to win the conference championship. The Cardinals were followed by Syracuse, Notre Dame, Cincinnati and Georgetown.
Adams received his second preseason honor in as many days. He was named Big East rookie of the year in a media poll on Monday.
Louisville guard Peyton Siva is the Big East preseason player of the year.
He is joined on the Big East preseason first-team by teammate Gorgui Dieng, Sean Kilpatrick of Cincinnati, Otto Porter of Georgetown, Jack Cooley of Notre Dame and Vincent Council of Providence.
Pitt senior point guard Tray Woodall received honorable mention.
