Clairton's Boyd announces he will play wide receiver for Pitt

Clairton High School star Tyler Boyd, the Post-Gazette Player of the Year, announced today he will play next season at Pitt.

Boyd is playing in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio and made his announcement during the high school all-star game on NBC television.

Boyd is a big catch for Pitt. He was recruited to play receiver. Penn State, West Virginia, Michigan State, Rutgers and Tennessee also recruited him.

Boyd played mostly running back at Clairton and finished his career as the fifth all-time rusher in WPIAL history with 5,755 yards. He set a WPIAL record with 117 career touchdowns.

He had 2,567 yards rushing this season and was part of a 63-game winning streak in his career.
