Central Valley wide receiver Robert Foster is taking his talents to the nation's best conference.

Foster verbally committed to Alabama Friday at his news conference at his high school, choosing the Crimson Tide over hometown school and presumed favorite Pitt.

Foster is generally considered to be the top WPIAL senior recruit. He is listed as a four-star prospect on Rivals.com, and ranked as the 10th-best receiver in the country.

As a senior at Central Valley, Foster caught 45 passes for 756 yards this season. He also rushed the ball 67 times for 549 yards and was a standout kick returner and defensive back.

Foster will join a Crimson Tide squad that has established itself as a perennial national championship contender under coach Nick Saban. Alabama won last year's title, and will play for their second consecutive national championship Jan. 7 against Notre Dame.

Foster's decision comes as a disappointment to Pitt, which was hoping to land the WPIAL's top recruit for the second consecutive year, after signing Hopewell graduate Rushel Shell last year.
