Pitt coach Jamie Dixon received his first verbal commitment for the class of 2013 Saturday night when McKeesport native Mike Young let him know he would become a Panther.

Young, a 6-foot-8 power forward, attended Shady Side Academy for his freshman season but transferred to St. Benedict's in New Jersey for his sophomore season. He attended Hudson Catholic last season and will transfer back to St. Benedict's for his senior season.

Young is ranked as the No. 102 recruit for the 2013 class by Rivals.com. He averaged last season 15.9 points and 11.6 rebounds per game for Hudson Catholic.
