Readers of the PBC Blog on www.post-gazette.com posted these comments among hundreds in reaction to the Jack Wilson and Freddy Sanchez trades.

On the Wilson, Snell trades:

... I'm out at Yellowstone and had to come to a McDonald's to use the wifi and what is the first thing I see. Jack Wilson traded to Seattle. I may have to stay out here and move to Seattle. I'm sorry but I think we are already a AAA club now. And when Freddy goes in the next day or so, that clinches the deal. Fire sale! Fire Sale!

Lets debate: We lost LaRoche, Wilson, Morgan, McClouth, Burnett and Snell. ... None of these 6 players with the exception of McClouth would be a regular on many teams in MLB. In Pittsburgh we like to overvalue our talent, since they play for the team we like....

Good luck to Jack and Ian in Seattle. Jack was [a] class act for his nearly 10 years in Pittsburgh. ... I'm very happy Jack gets to go with a winning team and enjoys the experience of playing important games in August and September.

Seems like a fair return for Wilson and Snell. In other words, nothing special. ... They basically got: a defensively deficient former top prospect, an offensively deficient stop-gap SS, and three young minor league pitchers.

Jack -- I loved watching you play from your first days in Altoona and all the years with the Bucs. ... I'll miss seeing you make those fantastic plays in the hole and all those double plays. Good luck with Seattle!

Never a dull moment with Huntington and co. Should have seen this coming at least by the time of the McLouth trade they had already decided that this club was not competing this year; so the housecleaning continues.

On the,

Sanchez trade:

Wow, I didn't think the Giants would give up one of their top rated players for Sanchez. I'm happy with this trade.

-- CA Pirate

People who said "that's it" should know that this guy is one of the top 15 pitching prospects in all of baseball from an organization that developed Matt Cain and Tim Lincecum ... This is the best trade the Pirates have made in 20 years.

I'm going to 3 games this weekend. Who am I going to see? I may recognize more members of the Nats than the Pirates. ... I feel like I've lost my team.

I hardly know how to write a goodbye to Freddy. He's been a face to the team for me for these years.

-- Capn

I hear this AA pitcher is the most highly touted Giants pitching prospect since Ryan Vogelsong!!!!!!!!
