ST. LOUIS -- The Pirates have promoted Jameson Taillon, the second overall pick from the 2010 draft, to Class AA Altoona, the team announced this afternoon.

Taillon, 20, had a 3.82 ERA in 23 starts for Class A Bradenton this year and participated in the All-Star Futures Game and the Florida State League All-Star Game.

He will make his Altoona debut Tuesday in Trenton.

Taillon got off to a strong start this season but struggled after the first two months of the season, entering the All-Star break with a 4.52 ERA. Since then, he has adjusted well. He has a 2.98 ERA since the break and is 1-1 with a 1.80 ERA in three starts this month.
