PHOENIX -- Pirates closer Joel Hanrahan is experiencing tightness in his right hamstring, which caused him to miss a save opportunity Tuesday night against the Diamondbacks.

He is officially listed as day-to-day and said the injury is not serious.

Hanrahan tweaked his hamstring on the final pitch of his save against the San Francisco Giants on Sunday.

"I just felt a little tightness, kind of like a cramp," Hanrahan said following the Pirates' 5-4 victory against the Diamondbacks Tuesday. "It's been a little tight still."

Juan Cruz earned the save Tuesday, his first of the season and fourth of his career.

With a three run lead, Hanrahan struggled with his command Sunday and put the tying run at the plate in the bottom of the ninth.

"I learned a lesson: Don't throw 31 pitches," Hanrahan said.
