McCutchen wins Silver Slugger

Andrew McCutchen's trophy case grows more crowded by the week.
The star center fielder was honored with a Silver Slugger award Thursday becoming the first Pirates since Jack Wilson in 2004 and the first outfielder since Barry Bonds and Andy Van Slyke won the award in 1992.
McCutchen also won a Gold Glove last week and becomes the fourth Pirates player to win the Silver Slugger and Gold Glove in the same season.
The Silver Slugger, sponsored by the Louisville Slugger bat company, is awarded to the best offensive player at each position in the American League and National League. McCutchen, 26, led the National League with 194 hits and finished the season hitting .327 with a .400 on-base percentage and a .553 slugging percentage.
"Andrew had a great year," general manager Neal Huntington said. "It was fun to watch him take a huge step forward, in terms of his overall ability."
The Pirates signed McCutchen to a six-year, $51.5 million contract before the start of the 2012 season.
The recipients were voted on by major league coaches and managers.
McCutchen is also one of five finalists for the NL MVP, the winner of which will be announced next week.
