Pirates centerfielder Andrew McCutchen will compete Monday in the Home Run Derby in Kansas City, the team announced tonight.

McCutchen will replace Miami Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton, who will undergo arthroscopic knee surgery and will miss both the derby and the All-Star Game.

Jason Bay was the last Pirate to participate in the event, going homerless in 2005 at Comerica Park.

McCutchen has 16 home runs this season, tied for the team lead with Pedro Alvarez. The other seven participants are Prince Fielder, Jose Bautista, Mark Trumbo, Robinson Cano, Matt Kemp, Carlos Gonzalez and Carlos Beltran.
