Injury forces Pirates' Bedard to leave game

Pitcher Erik Bedard left Wednesday's game against the Washington Nationals in the top of the second inning because of what appeared to be an injury to his back or side.
Bedard retired the side in order on five pitches in the first. After a pitch to Adam LaRoche, he swung his leg, then twisted his torso in pain. The trainers and coaches visited the mound before he left. Brad Lincoln replaced him.
Bedard threw eight pitches total.
Bedard has struggled with injury in his career, though in recent years those injuries affected his shoulder and knee.
