Penguins' Malkin wins NHL's top two awards

LAS VEGAS -- Penguins center Evgeni Malkin tonight won the NHL's top two trophies at the league's annual awards show at the Encore hotel.
Malkin won the Hart Trophy as MVP as voted by members of the Professional Hockey Writers Association and the Ted Lindsay Award, which goes to the most outstanding player in the NHL as voted by fellow players.
It was the third time Malkin has been a finalist for the awards, the first time he has won them.
Malkin, 25, also was recognized for winning the Art Ross Trophy as the league's leading scorer in 2011-12 with 109 points, including a career-high 50 goals.
In addition, Malkin and one of his linemates, James Neal, were named NHL first-team All-Stars, Malkin the center and Neal the right winger. Neal had 40 goals, 81 points and led the league with 18 power-play goals.
