The Penguins will hold receptions and open houses this month to celebrate the opening of Consol Energy Center, the hockey club announced Monday.
The Penguins, which took control of the facility Sunday, and Consol Energy will co-host a private, invitation only grand opening reception on Friday evening. The general public and Penguins' season ticket holders will have opportunities to tour the new arena in its first month.
There will be open houses for Penguins season ticket holders on Saturday, Aug. 14, and Sunday, Aug. 15. Season ticket holders already have received their invitations and tickets.
There will be an Open House for the public on Saturday, Aug. 28. Tickets are available for a $5 donation that will go to the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation -- which supports local youth initiatives and youth hockey.
Tickets for the public event will be available for purchase starting on Thursday Aug. 12 at www.ticketmaster.com, by calling or 1-800-745-3000, or at the Consol Energy Center box office.
Among the private receptions of the next several weeks will be a special one on Tuesday, Aug. 10, for the construction workers who built the arena. Construction workers and their families will have an opportunity to tour the finished product and see the result of all their work.
