SMG, which has managed Consol Energy Center since it opened and Civic Arena for several years before that, will be replaced when AEG Facilities takes over Sept. 1, the Penguins announced today.

AEG Facilities operates sports and entertainment venues worldwide, including NHL arenas in Los Angeles, Minnesota and New Jersey.

The agreement for Consol Energy Center is for five years.

The incoming management group and the Penguins indicated that workers at Consol Energy Center will keep their jobs, although those in SMG's senior managers will have their jobs evaluated.

Aramark remains as the primary food and beverage provider at the arena.
