UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- The Penguins have returned goaltender Brad Thiessen to their American Hockey League affiliate in Wilkes-Barre.

The move was made after it was determined that veteran Brent Johnson, who has missed the past 17 games because of an undisclosed injury, is healthy enough to back up Marc-Andre Fleury when the Penguins face the New York Islanders tonight at 7:08 at Nassau Coliseum.

Johnson also appears to be the early favorite to start when the Penguins play in Buffalo Friday evening.

Thiessen is 3-1, with a 3.72 goals-against average and .858 save percentage in five NHL appearances this season.
