Suter, Parise sign with Minnesota

The Penguins have lost out on their top free-agency targets, left winger Zach Parise and defenseman Ryan Suter.
Both players agreed to 13-year, $98-million deals with the Minnesota Wild today.
Penguins officials were not immediately available for comment, although general manager Ray Shero is expected to speak with reporters later in the day.
Parise, who will turn 28 July 28, spent his first seven NHL seasons with New Jersey, where he put up 194 goals and 216 assists in 502 regular-season games.
He was the Devils' captain and had been projected as a linemate for Penguins center Sidney Crosby.
They are friends and both attended Shattuck-St. Mary's prep school in Minnesota, although their time there did not overlap.
The Penguins were projecting Suter, who is 27 and had spent his entire NHL career with Nashville, as a partner for Kris Letang on their No. 1 defense pairing.
With Parise and Suter, easily the top unrestricted free agents available this summer, out of the mix, the Penguins are expected to try to address their personnel needs through trades rather than by pursuing any of the free agents still available.
