The NHL today canceled the remainder of its preseason schedule, through Oct. 8, because of the ongoing lockout.

The league previously canceled the first week of exhibition games. The Penguins had been scheduled to play six preseason games, three of them at Consol Energy Center.

The league and the NHL Players Association is scheduled to meet Friday in New York, the first talks since the owners locked out the players Sept. 15 when the collective bargaining agreement expired.
