Kostopoulos signs two-way contract with Penguins

The Penguins have signed winger Tom Kostopoulos to a one-year, two-way contract.

The deal is worth $600,000 in the NHL.

He will be placed on waivers at noon. If he clears at noon Wednesday, he will be assigned to the Penguins' farm team in Wilkes-Barre.

Kostopoulos, 34, played for the Penguins between 2001-04, putting up 10 goals and 16 assists in in 79 regular-season games.

He was the Penguins' seventh-round choice in 1999 and also has played for Los Angeles, Montreal, Carolina and Calgary.

Kostopoulos has been playing with the Baby Penguins on a tryout contract. He has three goals and four assists in 17 games.
