Former Penguins part-owner Tad Potter dies

Former Penguins part-owner Thayer R. "Tad" Potter died Friday, his family said today.
Mr. Potter was part of a group that in 1971 convinced the National Hockey League to allow them to take control of the Penguins. The group had financial problems about four years later.
He became a Penguins general partner because he liked hockey and wanted it in Pittsburgh. He served as general manager and chief executive officer of the Penguins.
His last team in 1974-75, finished with 89 points, then a team record and were 25-5-10 at home, also a team record.
Arrangements were incomplete.
