8 Penguins games scheduled for Versus

Eight Penguins games will be shown by Versus, according to the 2009-10 national TV schedule announced yesterday by the NHL.

The games will be Oct. 20 against St. Louis, Nov. 10 at Boston, Dec. 15 against Philadelphia, Jan. 11 at Minnesota, Jan. 25 at the New York Rangers, Feb. 1 against Buffalo, March 22 at Detroit and April 6 against Washington. All will start at 7 p.m. except the game in Minnesota, which is scheduled for 8 p.m. The April 6 game originally was scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Other Penguins games could be picked up by NBC the second half of the season.

Also yesterday, it was announced that Penguins defeseman Brooks Orpik, who spent the past three days at the United States Olympic men's orientation camp in Chicago, is joining the others at the camp by donating equipment to youth hockey. Orpik is giving 15 sets of starter equipment to the local "Hockey in the Hood" program.
