The steelhead spawning run began yesterday when runoff from nearly two inches of rain triggered the migratory instincts of fish that for weeks had been pooling near the mouths of creeks.

The run is expected to trigger a migration of anglers from throughout Pennsylvania and beyond to a fishing experience considered by many to be a world class.

Steelhead are a rainbow trout raised in hatcheries and stocked in the tributaries by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission.
