For several weeks archer Bruce Barr Jr. of Burgettstown watched a particular deer in night photos taken by several trail cameras.

"I knew it was going to be hard getting a shot at him, at least until the rut," he said. "I had only seen one buck and because of the moon phases and warm weather, the deer seemed to be moving very late and very early, which typically happens every year unless it is cold out." On Oct. 17 the 11-point passed Barr's stand and turned broadside. It was taken with a Mathews Heli-m bow.

Self-publish your deer photos online at post-gazette.com. Go to www.post-gazette.com/yourphotos, click on the "Outdoors" link, then on "Submit a Photo" and follow the prompts. Accepts .jpg format only, one image per email. Write your title and caption, including name, town, age (for minors), county/township where deer was taken and optional information (sporting arm, conditions, etc.). Photos will be vetted for content. Text is subject to editing.
