Blast of weather forces delay in playoff schedule

The rainy weather is playing havoc with the WPIAL playoff schedule in sports other than football.
Playoff or championship games in boys and girls soccer, girls volleyball and girls field hockey that were scheduled for tonight have been postponed until Wednesday.
The soccer playoffs for boys and girls are in the semifinal round while girls field hockey is down to its championship games. Although the WPIAL girls volleyball quarterfinals are played inside, the WPIAL also decided to postpone those games one day. A number of school districts canceled classes today because of the weather.
The championship games in soccer and girls volleyball are scheduled for Saturday.
The WPIAL also announced Monday night that some first-round football playoff games scheduled for Friday night on grass fields might be moved to a artificial turf fields.
