Sheldon Jeter scored 24 points and Class AA fifth-ranked Beaver Falls extended its section winning streak to 34 last night with a 65-59 win against visiting Aliquippa in Section 6.

Beaver Falls trailed, 55-45, with seven minutes left to play, before rallying for the win. After tying the score, 57-57, with 2:21 left, the Tigers went ahead for good with 1:39 left.

Jeter, a sophomore, added 10 rebounds and four blocks for the Tigers (7-5, 6-0), who have defeated the Quips (6-5, 3-2) five consecutive times.

Other top boys' games

• Zach Landers scored 14 of his 18 points in the first half and host Latrobe (7-5, 5-1) forged a first-place tie in Class AAAA Section 1 with a 56-49 win against Hempfield (10-3, 5-1). Nate Perry paced Hempfield with 17 points.

• Tyler Scott's 27 points enabled Class AAAA No. 3 Gateway (8-2, 4-1) to earn a 64-52 win at McKeesport (10-4, 4-2) in Section 2. Devon Cottrell added 18 points, 10 rebounds and 6 blocks for the Gators.

• Nick Delisio scored 20 points and Michael Kupper added 18 to help host Center (9-3, 5-1) win its fourth in a row with a 63-46 triumph against Class AAA No. 5 Hopewell (9-5, 4-1) in Section 2.

Great finish

• Tyler Trainor hit a jump shot with four seconds left to give host Seton-LaSalle (3-9, 2-4) a 62-60 victory against Bishop Canevin (6-8, 3-3) in Class AA Section 3.

Milestone

• West Mifflin's C.J. Hester surpassed 1,000 points for his career in a 71-56 win for the Titans (8-4, 3-2) against visiting South Park (4-8, 1-4) in Class AAA Section 4. A junior, Hester scored a game-high 25 points.

Boys' star of the night

• Giovanni Ellis scored 12 of his 31 points in the second quarter to help Class AA No. 4 Rochester (14-1, 6-0) hold onto the lead in Section 2 after an 83-56 rout of visiting New Brighton (7-6, 4-2).

Milestone

• Taylor Verrico reached 1,000 points for her career in helping Class A No. 3 Quigley (10-2, 4-1) defeat host Sewickley Academy (3-5, 1-2), 70-47, in Section 1. Verrico scored 14 points and has 1,004 overall.
