The Allderdice wrestling team captured its second consecutive City League championship with a convincing, 54-18 victory Thursday against Perry.

"I was surprised with the margin of victory," Allderdice coach Mike Shaw said.

"I expected the match to be much closer since one of our top kids [Dillion Mulvihill] was out of the lineup. The kids did a great job."

The match began at 285 pounds, and Pat Ferguson recorded the first of seven pins for Allderdice.

The Dragons forfeited the next weight class, then won 10 of the next 12 matches.

Others recording pins for Allderdice (14-4) were Josh Zinkovsky (126), Ryan Campbell (132), Ean Disilvio (145), Cameron Jacobson (152), Jaylen Wilkins (182) and Ranier Smith (195).

Keron Jones (138) and Jermaine Herring (220) had pins for Perry (7-10).

The victory earns Allderdice a second consecutive berth in the PIAA Class AAA tournament, which begins Monday.

Allderdice will face the WPIAL's third-place finisher in a preliminary match.
