WPIAL Class AAA: Franklin Regional edges Hampton with late score

Franklin Regional drove 65 yards on six plays and scored on an 8-yard run by Chad Bowman with 13 seconds left to record a thrilling, 35-34 victory against visiting Hampton in the Greater Allegheny Conference.
Bowman rushed for 155 yards on 26 carries and also scored on runs of 22, 56, and 8 yards for the Panthers (6-2, 3-1). Franklin Regional also scored on a 65-yard pass from Steve Liberatore to Josh Staniscia.
Hampton (4-4, 2-2) was led by Andrew Bly, who rushed for 288 yards on 35 carries, and scored on runs of 69, 29, 9, and 35 yards. Bly's final touchdown came with 1:36 left, but the extra-point attempt was blocked by Matt Schantz.
The top-ranked Jaguars (8-0, 5-0) remained unbeaten with a narrow win against the visiting Leopards (4-4, 2-3) in the Big Seven Conference. It was Thomas Jefferson's 45th consecutive win against WPIAL opponents.
Rushel Shell rushed for 262 yards on 26 carries and scored on touchdown runs of 58 and 66 yards to lead the No. 2 Vikings (8-0, 5-0) to a narrow victory against the Spartans (5-3, 3-2) in the Parkway Conference. Matt Hundenski ran for one score and threw for another for Hopewell.
Rob LaMonde ran 9 yards for one score and connected with Matt Noszka on a 13-yard scoring strike to lead the No. 3 Colts (7-1, 5-1) to a road victory against the Warriors (4-4, 1-4) in the Big Seven Conference. LaMonde completed 9 of 19 passes for 106 yards. Beau Carson rushed for 145 yards for the Colts and scored on a 64-yard run.
Mike Caputo scored three touchdowns to lead the No. 4 Indians (6-2) to a convincing victory against the visiting Bulldogs (2-6) in a non-conference game. Caputo rushed for 151 yards and scored on runs of 41 and 6 yards. He also caught a 14-yard scoring pass from Jared Buck.
The No. 5 Golden Lions (7-1, 5-0) clinched a tie for the Keystone Conference title with a convincing win against the host Mustangs (3-5, 3-2).
The host Rams (3-5, 1-4) posted their first Big Seven Conference victory of the season with this upset of the Titans (5-3, 2-3). It's the second consecutive loss for West Mifflin.
Chris Karns kicked a 30-yard field goal with 1:07 left to provide the winning points in the Planets' victory against the visiting Little Indians (1-7, 1-3) in the Greater Allegheny Conference. Austin Miele rushed for 121 yards on 33 carries and scored on a 2-yard run for Mars (5-3, 3-1). Miele also scored on a 56-yard fumble return.
Adam Tuzikow rushed for 160 yards and scored on runs of 2, 17, and 31 yards, as the Knights (3-5, 3-1) recorded their third consecutive victory and clinched a Greater Allegheny Conference playoff berth with a victory against the host Golden Rams (0-8, 0-4).
The Trojans (3-5, 3-2) clinched a Keystone Conference playoff berth with a victory against the host Colonials (3-5, 2-4). Domenic Hoffman scored on touchdown runs of 2 and 7 yards for Derry. Cody Peebles ran for one touchdown and threw for another for Albert Gallatin.
Arnold Walker rushed for 112 yards on 17 carries and scored on touchdown runs of 13 and 3 yards, as the Red Raiders (5-3, 4-1) defeated the host Scotties (0-8, 0-5) in the Keystone Conference.
Two extra points by Phil Pritchard were the difference, as the Cougars (3-5, 1-4) moved out of a tie for last place in the Parkway Conference with a victory against the host Tigers (0-8, 0-5). Matt Engle ran for one touchdown and threw for another for Blackhawk.
John Matarazzo completed 15 of 21 passes for 188 yards and connected with Jajuan Jay and Marcus Carter on touchdown passes, as the Red Hurricanes (6-2, 4-2) clinched a Parkway Conference playoff berth with a road victory against the Bridgers (3-5, 1-4).
The Hillers (3-5) jumped out to a 34-0 halftime lead in this non-conference victory against the Cougars (1-7). Andrew Steratore completed 4 of 8 passes for 147 yards and two touchdowns for Trinity, while Mike Preston ran for two more scores.
