WPIAL Class AA Roundup: Gladiators rally in second half

South Allegheny stormed back from a 10-point halftime deficit to topple Keystone Oaks, 34-10, Friday at Dormont Stadium. The victory keeps the upstart Gladiators (6-1, 5-1) in the midst of the Century Conference race.
South Allegheny trailed, 10-0, at halftime before scoring two touchdowns in the third quarter and three more in the fourth. The Eagles (0-7, 0-6) were held to 13 yards offense in the second half.
Dustin Anderson scored two South Allegheny touchdowns. Ty Cook scored twice with Anderson throwing a touchdown pass in the final quarter to Josh Roundtree.
South Allegheny has won six in a row since an opening week defeat to Seton-LaSalle. A win against Steel Valley on Oct. 19 would clinch the Gladiators' first playoff berth since 1986. They conclude the regular season Oct. 26 at unbeaten South Fayette which leads the Century Conference.
The No. 2-ranked Lions (7-0) trounced visiting Riverside (1-6) in a non-league contest. South Fayette led 62-0 at halftime. The Lions outgained Riverside, 423-56, in total yards. Brett Brumbaugh completed 9 of 10 passes for 221 yards and six touchdowns. Zach Challingsworth and Zach Walker each scored twice.
Luke Brumbaugh passed for 215 yards and two touchdowns during the Rebels (6-1, 5-1) win against the Quakers (2-5, 2-5) in the Century Conference at Chartiers Valley Stadium.
The host Tigers (6-1, 5-1) led 42-0 at halftime in a Midwestern Conference rout of Freedom (2-5, 2-4). Dan Stratton passed for 209 yards and two touchdowns.
The Bucs (6-1, 5-1) bounced back from their only loss of the season with an Allegheny Conference win at Ford City. Burrell rallied from a 10-7 deficit against the Sabers (2-5, 1-5). Cole Bush of Burrell rushed for 135 yards and a touchdown.
Darian Bradley rushed for 177 yards and four touchdowns to lead the No. 4 Bobcats (7-0, 5-0) to a Midwestern Conference triumph at Mohawk (2-5, 2-4).
The top-ranked Quips (7-0, 5-0) spotted the host Wolverines (1-6, 1-5) an early 6-0 lead before exploding for a 34-7 halftime advantage in a Midwestern Conference contest. Malik Shegog completed each of the six passes he attempted for 128 yards and two touchdowns. Shegog also scored on runs of 41 and 20 yards.
The Highlanders (3-4, 2-4) handed the visiting Blue Devils (0-7, 0-6) another defeat in the Century Conference. McGuffey's James Duchi rushed for 159 yards and two touchdowns.
The Cougars (3-4, 3-3) featured a pair of 100-yard rushers as Tom Sever gained 163 yards on the ground and Clayton Weldren added 101 yards rushing in an Interstate Conference home win against Waynesburg (1-6, 1-5).
The Centurions (5-2, 4-2) scored in each quarter while blanking host Charleroi (1-6, 1-5) in the Interstate Conference.
The Yellowjackets (6-1, 6-1) continued to roll in the Allegheny Conference with a win at East Allegheny (1-6, 1-6). Brendan Lynch led Freeport with 227 yards rushing.
Leading 13-0 at halftime, the Ironmen (4-3, 4-2) held on to win a crucial contest in the Century Conference at South Park (3-4, 3-3).
Dan Farinelli connected with Chaz Cheatham on a pair of touchdown passes to lead Valley (5-2, 4-2) to a home win against Summit Academy (2-5, 1-5) in the Allegheny Conference.
Kittanning (4-3, 4-2) claimed victory against host Deer Lakes (3-4, 2-4) in the Allegheny Conference.
