Team to beat

Beth-Center -- The Bulldogs went undefeated in conference play last season and have lost only two Tri-County South games since joining in 2008. Three of Beth-Center's conference-high eight All-Tri-County South players were underclassmen: C.J. Novak (5-9, 188, Sr., TE), Zach Miller (6-3, 266, Sr., OL) and Cody Durant (5-11, 170, Sr., RB).

Contenders

Frazier -- The Commodores look to follow up on their first playoff appearance since 2002. Receiver Jamie Fell had 32 catches for 589 yards and 10 touchdowns last season and running back/linebacker Chaise Bertocci was Frazier's leading tackler and second-leading rusher. Charlie Manack takes over at quarterback.

Carmichaels -- The Mighty Mikes have an experienced team that has longtime coach John Menhart excited. Eight starters return on defense and seven on offense, including Brandon Lawless (6-3, 175, Jr., QB) and Brennen McMinn (5-9, 170, Jr., RB/LB). McMinn was an all-conference selection on defense and had 758 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns.

Jefferson-Morgan -- Liam Ryan replaces Jan Haiden as coach and inherits a team that returns nine starters on defense and six on offense. Dustin Conti was named an all-conference linebacker and led the team in rushing last season.

Others

Mapletown -- The Maples have not had a winning record or qualified for the playoffs since 2005.

Avella -- Nine starters return on both offense and defense for the Eagles, who went winless last season.

Bentworth -- The Bearcats did not score a point over a seven-game span last season. But they won their season finale and return quarterback Dante Sicchitano and seven defensive starters.

Geibel Catholic -- The Gators will look to correct a defense that allowed 40.2 points per game.

West Greene -- The Pioneers went 0-9 last season and are 1-35 since 2008. Senior Matt Johnston led the team in catches, receiving yards and touchdowns last season.
