West Allegheny beats West Mifflin, 34-8, for Class AAA title

Chayse Dillon and Armand Dellovade each scored two touchdowns to lead West Allegheny to a 34-8 win against West Mifflin in the WPIAL Class AAA title game, Friday at Heinz Field.
West Allegheny (12-1) claimed its sixth WPIAL title and first since 2009. West Mifflin (11-2) was making its third title appearance and had to settle for another silver medal.
Dillon rushed for 121 yards on 15 carries and scored West Allegheny's first two touchdowns on runs of 5 and 39 yards. Dellovade rushed for 88 yards on 11 carries and scored on a 34 yard run. He also caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from Andrew Koester.
Nick Halbedl capped West Allegheny's scoring with a 35-yard run. Halbedl rushed for 148 yards on 16 carries.
West Mifflin scored its only points on a 12-yard run by James Wheeler late in the fourth quarter. Wheeler rushed for 82 yards on 13 carries.
West Allegheny accumulated 402 yards in total offense, while limiting West Mifflin to 204 yards.
The victory earns West Allegheny its second PIAA Tournament berth in four years. The Indians will face unbeaten Erie Cathedral Prep (12-0) in the quarterfinals at a site and time to be determined. Cathedral Prep earned its berth with a 48-14 win against General McLane.
