PIAA Football Playoffs: Young passes for 6 TDs in win

Quarterback Akil Young threw for 462 yards and six touchdowns Friday night to lead University Prep to a 47-38 victory against District 5 champion Somerset in a PIAA Class AAA playoff game at Cupples Stadium.

Young completed 30 of 46 passes and had three receivers with five or more catches. Marcus Johnson caught eight passes for 214 yards and scored on passes of 82 and 22 yards. Clay Moorefield had eight catches for 98 yards, including a 26-yard scoring pass for the Panthers' first touchdown. A.J. Roberts caught five passes for 38 yards, including a 14-yard touchdown. Young also connected with Nicholas Stallworth and Michael Wright on scoring passes of 45 and 5 yards.

University Prep (6-3) accumulated 524 yards in total offense; Somerset (5-6) countered with 464.

Somerset's Tanner Stull connected with Jordan Wilkow on touchdown passes of 25 and 26 yards.
