It was far from a coronation, but ultimately, North Allegheny got its crown today.

Senior quarterback Mack Leftwich connected twice with tight end and fellow senior Zach Lyon on touchdown passes, helping lift North Allegheny to a 21-14 victory over Woodland Hills. The victory gave the Tigers (13-0) their third consecutive WPIAL title, making them the first program in Class AAAA history to accomplish the feat.

Less than three minutes into the game, Leftwich found the open Lyon streaking across the middle of the field, with the tight end hauling in an impressive one-handed catch that he ran in for a touchdown.

With the score tied at 14 with just over a minute remaining in the first half, the Tigers' drive down the field ended with a 32-yard touchdown pass from Leftwich to senior wide receiver Gregg Garrity, a play that proved to be the game-winner.

The loss deprived the Wolverines (10-3) of their sixth WPIAL championship, which would have been the most of any Class AAAA program.
