Smith will return

to McKeesport

George Smith will be Mc-Keesport High School's football coach once again and officially will be hired next week.

Smith coached McKeesport for 28 years before resigning after the 2009 season. Jim Ward coached the Tigers the past three seasons before resigning. Smith interviewed and was a finalist for the job, along with Clairton defensive coordinator Wayne Wade and Baldwin coach Jim Wehner. Tuesday night, McKeesport informed Wade that Smith will be the new coach and will be hired at a school board meeting next week.

Smith was highly successful in his 28 years, winning 197 games, two WPIAL titles and one PIAA title.
