Montour wins boys WPIAL Class AAA basketball championship

In the rubber match between section rivals, Montour won the biggest game of them all.

Devin Wilson scored a game-high 19 points to lead Montour to its second title in three years with a 47-40 win against top-seed Chartiers Valley in the WPIAL Class AAA boys championship game tonight at Palumbo Center.

Montour (22-4), the No. 3 seed, trailed, 29-20 at halftime, but outscored Chartiers Valley (22-4), 27-11, in the second half.

Chartiers Valley turned the ball over on consecutive possessions while trailing, 43-40, and Wilson made four free throws in the final 23.5 seconds to ice the game.

Montour and Chartiers Valley split of pair of meetings in Section 5 during the regular season.
