Minnie scores 42 in Lincoln Park win

Elijah Minnie scored 42 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead Lincoln Park to a come-from-behind, 86-84 victory against Bishop Carroll Friday night in a PIAA Class A boys quarterfinal at Hempfield.
The Leopards (22-6) will face Johnsonburg, a 54-43 winner against Smethport, Tuesday night in a semifinal.
Lincoln Park appeared to have the game well in hand with a 20-point lead in the second quarter.
Scott Ranck, however, sparked a furious Bishop Carroll comeback, scoring 24 of his 26 points in the second half.
The Huskies held a 70-63 lead with 5:55 left before the Leopards went on an 8-0 run to regain the lead.
"I was elated until there were about three minutes left in the third quarter," said Lincoln Park coach Mark Javens. "We turned the ball over, and they took the lead. Fortunately, we came out with the victory."
Minnie sealed the victory by sinking two free throws with 1:07 left.
Maverick Rowan and Ryan Skovranko added 23 and 11 points, respectively, for the Leopards.
Brandon Martinazzi led Bishop Carroll with 28 points. Marcus Lee added 16 points for the 23-6 Huskies.
"Elijah can really shoot the ball," Javens said.
"He's learning and still getting better."
Minnie sank four 3-pointers, and Javens said the 6-foot-9 junior center must be reminded about certain aspects of his game.
"Sometimes, we have to push him inside," he said.
Class AAA quarterfinals
• Archbishop Carroll 49, Chartiers Valley 46: Chartiers Valley's Haedyn Herzer hit a 3-point shot with about a minute remaining to tie the score, but Archbishop Carroll sank three free throws in the final 11 seconds to secure a victory in Chambersburg.
Archbishop Carroll (22-6) will meet Montour Tuesday in the semifinals.
"We just couldn't get the lead," Chartiers Valley coach Tim McConnell said. "We were coming from behind all night.
"If we would have been in the lead with less than two minutes left, we would have made them chase us."
The score remained tied until Matty McConnell fouled Ernest Aflakpui with 11 seconds left.
Aflakpui made one free throw, and teammate Derrick Jones hit two more free throws with 0.8 seconds left.
Michael Boulos led the Colts (24-5) with 13 points. Spencer Casson added 11. Jones led the Patriots with 15 points, and Aflakpui chipped in with 13.
Archbishop Carroll took an early, 14-7 lead, and McConnell said the Patriots' height was an issue from the outset.
"They had a 6-9 kid [Aflakpui] and a 6-6 kid [Jones], and both were very athletic," he said.
