High School Highlights: Obama outlasts Allderdice

Obama Academy wasn't going to let anybody celebrate a championship on its court.

DeAndre Byrd had 20 points and D.J. Porter 17 as the Eagles stayed in the City League regular-season title race with a 69-64 victory Friday against visiting Allderdice.

Justin Dobbs had 30 points for the two-time defending City League champion Dragons (13-6, 10-1), who ranked No. 1 in the league by the Post-Gazette.

Dante Forte added 15 points for No. 2 Obama Academy (12-5, 9-2) in a game that was tied heading into the fourth quarter.

• Julian Thompson had 14 of his game-high 24 points in the second half in leading Greensburg Salem (14-5, 8-2) to a big 70-61 victory against visiting Uniontown (13-6, 8-3) in Class AAA Section 3. Marcus Thomas had 19 points for the Raiders.

• Cory Sevacko's running shot at the buzzer clinched the Section 4 title for Class AAA No. 4 Keystone Oaks. Rocco Contristano had 27 points as the Golden Eagles (17-2, 11-0) won at Thomas Jefferson, 63-61. Dom Presto of the Jaguars (8-12, 7-3) hit a 3-pointer with 21 seconds left to tie the score before Sevacko's heroics.

• Charlie Wallander's jump shot with 6.5 seconds left capped a second-half comeback and allowed Baldwin (8-12, 5-7) to upset Class AAAA No. 3 Mt. Lebanon, 45-43, and stay in the Section 4 playoff race. Jordan Hartman had 15 points to lead the Highlanders, and Kamic Anyang had 15 of his game-high 19 points in the first half for the Blue Devils (15-5, 10-2).

• Third-place Carrick was upset by last-place Brashear, 81-73, in the City League. Marlin Jackson and DeVontay Simmons had 22 points each for the Bulls (3-14, 3-8). Simmons had 17 points in the second half. Hasaun Blair had 22 points for the Raiders (7-11, 6-5).
