Elizabeth Forward moves to WPIAL Class AAA semifinals

Elizabeth Forward is headed to the WPIAL Class AAA semifinals for the first time in 23 years after a 66-45 win against No. 3 seed Central Valley Saturday at West Allegheny.
In a battle of the Warriors, it was the Elizabeth Forward Warriors who made things look surprisingly easy, as they built a 38-19 halftime lead.
Kylie Owoc scored 16 points and Dana Buck added 14 for No. 6 Elizabeth Forward (22-2).
Central Valley played without junior center Kiana Law, who received two technical fouls in the first round.
Seairra Barrett scored a game-high 18 points for Central Valley, but Elizabeth Forward contained Madi Rowan, holding the senior point guard to seven points, 12 below her average.
Class AAA quarterfinals
• Blackhawk 71, Belle Vernon 46: Chassidy Omogrosso scored a game-high 24 points and Halle Denman added 18 as top-seeded Blackhawk (24-0) rolled past No. 10 Belle Vernon (16-7) at West Allegheny. The Cougars, the last undefeated team in the WPIAL, got a big game from Courtney Vannoy, who finished with 10 points, 15 rebounds and 6 steals. Sisters Jessica Slagus and Kaitlyn Slagus scored 14 and 13 points for the Leopards.
• South Park 69, Hampton 37: South Park rode a stifling defense to a 33-10 halftime lead and eventually to the WPIAL semifinals with a win against No. 6 Hampton (18-6) at North Allegheny. The No. 3 Eagles (21-2) held the Talbots to two first-half field goals. Shelby Lindsay and Allison McGrath each scored 18 for South Park. Sara Pilarski scored 16 for Hampton.
• Hopewell 70, Ambridge 46: Shatori Walker-Kimbrough finished with 28 points, 15 rebounds, 9 steals and 7 assists to carry No. 2 Hopewell (21-3) past No. 10 Ambridge (15-9) at West Allegheny. The Bridgers were led by Katie Fischer, who scored 27 points, including five 3-pointers.
Class A quarterfinals
• North Catholic 51, Cornell 22: North Catholic outscored Cornell, 27-4, over the second and third quarters to blow open a close game en route to a 29-point win against No. 11 Cornell (12-11) at Ambridge. Lauren Wolosik had 21 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the No. 3 Trojanettes (15-9) and her teammate Abby Goetz finished with 11 points and 14 rebounds.
• Vincentian 76, Winchester Thurston 59: Vincentian sophomore Brenna Wise scored a team-high 24 to bring her career total to 1,016 and lead the No. 1 Royals (23-1) to a win against No. 8 Winchester Thurston (13-9) at North Hills. Lexi LoNero scored a game-high 28 points, including six 3-pointers, for the Bears.
• Quigley 60, St. Joseph 31: Kristin Jackson scored 14 of her game-high 24 points in the second half to help No. 4 Quigley (18-5) defeat No. 12 St. Joseph (11-13) at Northgate. Mallory Heinle led St. Joseph with 14 points.
• Serra 61, Rochester 42: Sisters Katie and Megan Sieg combined to score 30 points as No. 2 Serra (22-2) beat No. 10 Rochester (12-12) at Northgate. Katie Sieg scored a game-high 19, and her younger sister Megan added 11. Demi McFrazier scored 13 for the Rams.
