Butler stays in 4th place

With his team fighting for a playoff spot, Nate Snodgrass had one of the most memorable games of his career.
Snodgrass scored 42 points -- including the 1,000th of his career -- to lead host Butler to an 81-60 victory Tuesday against North Allegheny in Class AAAA Section 3. The win kept Butler (10-9, 5-5) in a fourth-place tie with Central Catholic (10-9, 5-5), both of which trail North Allegheny (10-6, 5-4) and Seneca Valley (12-7, 5-4) by a half game. Shaler (18-2) is a section-best 9-1.
J.C. Howard had 19 points for North Allegheny.
• Geno Thorpe's 16 points helped Class AAAA No. 1 Shaler slip past host Seneca Valley in overtime, 62-60, in Section 3.
• Nolan Cressler had 16 points and 13 rebounds to lead host Plum (12-7, 5-4) to a 53-43 upset win against Class AAAA No. 4 Woodland Hills (14-4, 8-2) in Section 2.
• Nick Stone scored 20 points to help Kiski Area (13-5, 8-2) edge visiting Hempfield (15-3, 9-2), 56-51, in Class AAAA Section 1. The Spartans had won five games in a row.
• Evan Bonnaure's 23 points enabled Class AAA No. 5 South Fayette (13-4, 8-1) to defeat host Washington (12-7, 5-4), 57-46, in Section 5. Josh Wise scored 27 points for the Little Prexies.
• Marc Williams scored the final two of his 18 points on a basket with 12 seconds left to lift Wilkinsburg (13-4, 7-3) to a 63-62 victory at Seton-LaSalle (13-6, 5-4) in Class AA Section 3.
• After trailing by seven points in the first overtime, host Trinity (10-9, 4-6) rallied to edge McGuffey (11-6, 4-4) in double overtime, 78-74, in Class AAA Section 5. Trinity's Christian Koroly made seven 3-pointers and scored 25 points.
• Trey Hosack had 14 points and Devontae Watson added 13 to lead Class A No. 1 Lincoln Park (15-3, 7-0) to a 63-30 romp against visiting Our Lady of the Sacred Heart (14-3, 4-3) in Section 1. The Leopards held OLSH star Andrew Orie to a season-low 11 points.
• Tyler Scott became the all-time leading scorer at Class AAAA No. 5 Gateway (12-4, 7-2) in a 78-65 win at Franklin Regional (6-13, 2-8) in Section 2.
Scott scored 18 points, giving him 1,177 in his career, which broke a record previously held by 2011 graduate Devon Cottrell (1,170).
