This victory on the final Friday of the regular season meant more than most.

"We beat our rival," Jeannette boys basketball coach Adrian Batts said, "and we beat our section's champs."

Orlando Morgan's 3-point play put the Jayhawks ahead in the final minute as Class AA No. 5 Jeannette defeated No. 4 Greensburg Central Catholic, 63-62.

Demetrious Cox and Morgan each had 19 points to lead the visiting Jayhawks (14-7, 9-3 Section 4), who have won six of their past seven against Class AA teams.

"We've finally got our whole team together," Batts said. "We're looking forward to the playoffs and ready to make a run."

Ben Klimchock and P.J. McLaughlin each had 18 points for the Centurions (17-5, 11-1).

• Christian Koroly had 22 points as Trinity (12-9, 6-6) clinched a playoff berth for the school-record fourth consecutive season with a 51-42 win against visiting Washington (13-9, 6-6) in Class AAA Section 5.

• Shakim Alonzo had 31 points and 19 rebounds as Class AAAA No. 4 Woodland Hills (16-5, 10-2) wrapped up its first section title since 2000 with a 77-51 Section 2 win at Penn Hills (5-16, 2-10).

• Ryan Luther had eight of his team-high 25 points in overtime as Class AAA No. 3 Hampton (19-3, 14-0) beat visiting Section 1 foe Highlands, 78-73. Micah Mason had 32 points for Highlands (8-14, 6-8) to wrap up the WPIAL individual scoring title (29.9 points per game average).

• Kamic Anyang had 11 of his game-high 24 points in the second quarter as Mt. Lebanon (17-5, 12-2) pulled away, as Upper St. Clair's first non-playoff season in 11 years ended with a 51-34 loss. After a 6-0 start, the Panthers (12-10, 5-9) lost 10 of their final 16.

Milestone

• South Side Beaver senior Justin Gentile had 22 points to eclipse the 1,000-point mark. The Rams (12-9, 5-5) won the Class AA Section 5 game at Burgettstown, 70-54, preventing the Blue Devils (7-15, 3-7) from making the playoffs. Gentile has 1,001 points.

Top girls game

• Olivia English had 21 of her game-high 27 points after halftime as host Avella rallied to clinch a playoff spot with a 54-43 overtime victory against West Greene (11-11, 5-7). The Eagles (10-12, 5-7) have qualified for the postseason in seven of the past eight years following seven non-playoff seasons.
