Blackhawk High School wins WPIAL AAA baseball title

Blackhawk High School sophomore pitcher Brendan McKay pitched a two-hitter to lead the Cougars to a 1-0 victory against Belle Vernon in the WPIAL Class AAA baseball championship tonight at Consol Energy Park in North Franklin.

McKay struck out 11 and walked two. Blackhawk scored the only run of the game in the fourth inning when Joe Lopez drove home Tyler Craig, who had doubled.

McKay had a perfect game for 5 2/3 innings. Belle Vernon loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the seventh, but McKay got a double play to end the game.
