Sam Struss, Seneca Valley

Last week: Struss scored a team-high four goals to lead the Seneca Valley girls lacrosse team to its first WPIAL title with a 12-11 win against Sewickley Academy in the Division I championship game.

The skinny: Struss, a senior attacker, earned All-WPIAL honors this season. A Division I Liberty University recruit, Struss played her first two seasons at North Hills, which, coincidentally, won the Division II championship.

• What is the nicest field you have played on? I'd have to say the Seneca Valley turf. I like the feel of it. I still think (North Hills') Martorelli Stadium and Pine-Richland are nice, but I like ours the best.

• How unusual was it that North Hills also won a championship? It's definitely crazy. It's like no matter what team I would have been on, we would have won the championship. I'm happy I won it in Division I, but either way it would be a great experience.

• Who is the funniest person on the team? Morgan Midkiff. She always keeps people laughing.

• Are you going on a senior trip? I'm not doing anything with my friends, but I'm going on a cruise with my family. We're going to Cozumel, the Grand Caymans and Jamaica.

• It's a hot summer day and you want to go swimming. Where do you go? Probably my brother's house. There are no rules there. We can do whatever we want.

• Favorite cookout food? I'm a big fan of grilled chicken.

• Dream job? I'd like to work for the FBI or CIA, but if I could have it my way, I'd go to California, own a restaurant and just live on the beach.

• People might be surprised to know that ... Even though I love lacrosse, my favorite sport is hockey. I'm a huge (Sidney) Crosby fan, and I try to emulate his play.
