The Constellation Senior Players Championship, one of five major tournaments on the Champions Tour, will return to the Fox Chapel Golf Club for the next two years, the Post-Gazette has learned.

The tournament will be held approximately the same date -- the last week of June -- in 2013 and 2014.

The PGA Tour will make a formal announcement on Friday.

"That's really, really good for us," said Brian Goin, the PGA Tour's vice president of championship management. "I think we can really grow and what we put in place last year in a short amount of time."

The tournament was staged at Fox Chapel this past summer, though the event was hastily arranged in six months because of a pending merger involving the title sponsor.

But the Seth Raynor-designed course was so overwhelmingly received by the players that the tour wanted to return the tournament to the same site.

The arrangement is only for two years because the tour does not want the event to conflict with the 2016 U.S. Open at Oakmont and the corporate sales that lead up to the tournament.
