No, The Dribbler wasn't motoring to Ambridge Sunday to revisit memories of Dick DeVenzio and Dennis Wuycik and the fabulous Bridgers of 1967.

He wanted to appreciate the talents of Steven Adams, a 6-foot-11 New Zealander.

"He's the most heralded Pitt recruit ever," gushed the PG prognosticator, a passionate Panthers partisan. "Adams was pretty good, mate -- 12 points, 14 rebounds. He's probably going to be better than the last most-heralded Pitt recruit."

The Dribbler believes that Adams is tailor-made for Pitt -- as if a talented big kid weren't tailor-made for any program. A senior who has been in the states for only a few weeks, he led Notre Dame Prep of Massachusetts to victory in one of the games of the Pittsburgh Basketball Club Legends Classic.

"I'm still mad at DeJuan Blair for leaving early, and still mad at Aaron Gray for all the missed layups," The Dribbler groused. "But this kid will be a force inside."

The Dribbler has hardly been a force with his predictions, although they have improved the past two weeks. Through Wednesday, he had a 7-5 record for this week, giving him an overall mark of 49-22 (.690).

Here are his forecasts for the upcoming seven days:

Top boys games

Allderdice at Obama Academy, today, 4 p.m. -- Two of the City League's best face off for the second time. Allderdice won the initial contest by a point. The home team will even the series. Winner: Obama.

Montour at Washington, today, 7:30 p.m. -- As they were in football, the Spartans are among the Class AAA elite on the court. The Little Prexies are a stout crew, and they are primed for an upset victory at home. But they won't quite get it. Winner: Montour.
