Just stay away from the Parkway East.

Anyone who's a regular reader of Empty Netters knows that Joe Stiger of Army's Pit is a frequent contributor to the goings on here in our little space on the Internet. He's a smart, loyal fan who knows the sport and talks about it in a level-headed manner.

But sometimes, he scares us.

This is one of those times. Joe plotted the most logical course to hit every NHL, AHL and ECHL arena via the road starting in Pittsburgh and sent us the results.

THIS IS AWESOME

The Portland Winter Hawks held something called the Teddy Bear Toss recently, which is well... pretty self-explanatory.

We're not quite sure what they do will all those stuffed animals. We assume they go towards some sort of charity or something. Either way, that's the coolest thing we've seen in quite a while.

The crazy thing is that the goal that prompted the deluge was disallowed.

EMPTY NETTER ASSISTS

-Someone get Kris Letang a Nuprin.

-The Steelers need to hire Jordan Staal.

-Don't expect Eddie Johnston to suit up anytime soon.

-The Penguins hung out with some kids from Make-A-Wish.

Atlantic Division

-Flyers forward Scott Hartnell was suspended two games for his hit on Bruins defenseman Andrew Alberts Monday.

-That not enough in our book. We suspect if it was a star player like Sidney Crosby or Jaromir Jagr who was injured Harnell would've been punished more. It shouldn't matter who was injured. Hartnell delivered a cheap shot and should be sitting at least 5-10 games.

-Don't expect Flyers forward Simon Gagne back anytime soon. He's still dealing with a concussion.

-Rangers forward Jaromir Jagr could be a free agent after this season. Hmm...

-The Islanders are having trouble drawing. Only 8,161 souls attended Monday's 3-2 overtime loss to Dallas.

Northeast Division

-Two goals in regulation and one in a shootout by Alexei Kovalev lifted the Canadiens to a 4-3 defeat of the rival Maple Leafs.

-The circus in Toronto continues. The President of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment Richard Peddie said hiring John Ferguson, Jr. as general manager might have been a mistake.

Southeast Division

-The Hurricanes activated forward Scott Walker from injured reserve. He had been out of the lineup since a collision with Penguins forward Jarkko Ruutu on Oct. 19.

Central Division

-The Red Wings got two spectacular goals from Pavel Datsyuk and downed the Flames, 5-3.

Pacific Division

-The Kings recalled defenseman Jon Klemm from Manchester of the AHL.

Northwest Division

-Robert Luongo made 26 save and Ryan Kesler scored two goals for the Canucks in a 4-0 shutout of the Ducks. It was the first game for former Canucks forward Todd Bertuzzi in Vancouver since he was traded in June 2006.
