Record: 1-2-1

Leading scorer: Corey Perry, 4 points.

Last Game: 4-0 loss to Columbus.

Last Game against the Penguins: 3-2 overtime win on Nov. 6, 2006.

Player We Would Bet Money On Scoring: Todd Bertuzzi. Judging by how the Penguins had trouble with players in front of their net last night, a power forward like Bertuzzi could come up a goal.

Ex-Penguins: Head coach Randy Carlyle.

Completely Useless Trivia: Former left winger Jari Kurri is the only member of the Ducks to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Best Anaheim Ducks YouTube Video We Could Find: Snoop Dog jumped on the bandwagon last season.

We'll be blogging from the game live tonight, so again, if you're sad and lonely like us and have nothing better to do on a Saturday night than hang around on the computer, pay us a visit.

EMPTY NETTER ASSISTS

Penguins

The Detroit News had a piece on the similarities between Sidney Crosby and Red Wings great Steve Yzerman.

During e-mail conversations with EN reader Michael Goldberg of Washington D.C., Goldberg made a wonderful comparison of Crosby to former Penguins center Bryan Trottier. Goldberg said he could see Crosby still playing into his late 30's or even early 40's much like Trottier or Yzerman as a third-liner even as his skill erode out of sheer love for the sport.

We agree. Unlike Gretzky or Lemieux, Crosby seems to disregard the level of his greatness so far in his young career. In that respect, he is much more similar to Mark Messier, Trottier and Yzerman.

EMPTY NETTER ASSISTS

Atlantic Division

Talk about signing the right people. Free agent acquisitions Mike Comrie, Ruslan Fedotenko and Bill Guerin combined to score 10 points in the Islanders' 6-4 defeat of the Sabres Friday.

The Islanders signed defenseman Radek Martinek to a contract extension. They're planning the parade right now on the Island.

Northeast Division

The Maple Leafs claim the reason they've banned digital video recording equipment from their locker room is because they want to prevent images of their players in the nude from getting on the Internet. Because everyone wants to see Dacy Tucker in his birthday suit.

Southeast Division

Hurricanes forward Cory Stillman has missed the first two games of the season after being injured in a car wreck Tuesday.

The Thrashers raised a banner commemorating their Southeast Division title last season.

Central Division

*Predators defenseman Shea Weber will miss some time with a dislocated kneecap.

Pacific Division

Jeremy Roenick scored two goals in the Sharks' 3-1 defeat of the Canucks Friday. He now has 497 career goals.

The Dallas Stars now have a official MySpace page.

They might have a ton of friends on MySpace, but the Stars are having trouble filling their arena.

Northwest Division

Owen Nolan will be one of the Flames assistant captains this season.

Adams Division

Yahoo will continue to broadcast games. The upcoming schedule can be viewed here.

Team Marketing Report came out with a report called the Fan Cost Index. It compiles the average cost for a family of four to attend a sporting event. At $216.96, the Penguins were the fifth-cheapest ticket on average in the NHL.
