FAIRFAX, Va. -- Sean Johnson's 14 points paced four double-figure scorers as the Duquesne Dukes raced to an early 15-point lead Wednesday night and stayed ahead of George Mason in the second half for a 75-64 victory.
T.J. McConnell and Eric Evans each scored 12 points for the Dukes (7-5).
Duquesne used four new starters after dropping three of its previous five games, including a 14-point loss at Western Michigan Saturday. The change paid quick dividends as the Dukes knocked down nine of their first 15 shots, then tacked on a 10-0 run midway through the opening half for a 33-18 lead.
Ryan Pearson and Vertrail Vaughns each scored 13 for the Patriots (7-4), who watched their 18-game home court winning streak end under the weight of a season-high 22 turnovers.
Coach Ron Everhart's reconfigured starting lineup had three forwards -- Jerry Jones, Kadeem Pantophlet and Maamadou Datt -- and two guards. McConnell and Mike Talley. Former starters Johnson, Evans, B.J. Monteiro and Andre Marhold came off the bench.
