Former Duquesne player McConnell picks Arizona

Former Duquesne University basketball player T.J. McConnell has decided to transfer to the University of Arizona.
McConnell, who played his freshman and sophomore years at Duquesne, said he will call Arizona coach Sean Miller this afternoon and inform him of his decision.
"It seems like a great fit for me," said McConnell, a former Chartiers Valley High School star. "I just have to work hard and see what happens."
McConnell said he decided to leave Duquesne because he wanted to play at a higher level. Duquesne played Arizona this past season and McConnell visited Arizona this past weekend with his father, Tim.
"I just like the way they play and I obviously love their coaching staff," T.J. McConnell said. "I would love to play for a guy like Sean Miller. He's one of the best coaches in the NCAA."
McConnell also visited Virginia.
"Once coach Miller got my release from Duquesne, he called," McConnell said. "I was thinking of a few different schools. Once he called, it just went from there."
McConnell said he was told by a Duquesne official that Butler, Purdue, Michigan and Boston College, among others, called Duquesne to show interest once McConnell decided to transfer.
McConnell will have two years eligibility at Arizona.
