Entering its first Atlantic 10 Conference game of the season on the heels of a season-high two-game losing streak, the Duquesne women's basketball team defeated host Xavier, 56-54, Sunday.

Guard April Robinson led the Dukes (12-3, 1-0) with 15 points, and fellow guard Jocelyn Floyd added 11 points.

The Musketeers (6-9, 0-1) trailed, 48-30, with 11:23 remaining, but went on a 20-4 run to get within two points with 27 seconds left. Guard Aliyah Zantt missed a potential tying shot as time expired.

Other district game

• Penn State 80, Nebraska 58: Alex Bentley scored 19 points and led a swift backcourt trio that created havoc all over the floor to help No. 8 Penn State (13-2, 3-0 Big Ten) beat visiting Nebraska (12-5, 2-2).
