They came heartbreakingly close, but, once again, the Duquesne women's basketball team will not be going dancing.

The Dukes were left out of the NCAA Women's Tournament field when it was unveiled Monday night. Duquesne was considered right on the bubble, but ESPN.com "bracketologist" Charlie Creme had the Dukes in the 64-team field in his final prediction this week.

Instead, the Dukes will wait for their matchup in the Women's NIT, which they will play in for the fifth consecutive season.

The Dukes could have solidified their bid, but lost close games to St. Joseph's and Dayton late in the season. They still had hope because their strong RPI (No. 36 according to the NCAA's website) usually signaled inclusion in the field.

The WNIT field will be released later tonight.
