Duquesne throttled by La Salle on the road after a poor start

Ramon Galloway scored 23 points with six assists, and La Salle used a big first half to top Duquesne, 97-64, Saturday at Toma Gola Arena in Philadelphia.

Tyrone Garland added 20 points, and Tyreek Duren and Jerrell Wright scored 16 apiece for La Salle, which posted back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time since 1988-89 and 1989-90.

La Salle started the game on a 13-1 run, and Duquesne (8-20, 1-13 Atlantic 10) did not score its first field goal until the 13:34 mark.

The Explorers (20-7, 10-4) shot 62 percent (18 of 29) and held the Dukes to just 30 percent (9 of 30) in the first half. La Salle led at halftime, 50-25, and by as many as 37 points in the second half.

Derrick Colter scored 16 to lead the Dukes and Quevyn Winters added 13.
