DAYTON, Ohio -- Duquesne got off to a strong start versus Dayton today, but the Dukes could not maintain that high level of play very long. As a result, they lost for the eighth time in a row and the ninth time in ten games.

Dayton used a big run at the end of the first half to take control of the game, never looked back and won going away, 72-56, before a crowd of 12,000 at UD Arena.

The Dukes led 20-13 after Quevyn Winters hit a 3-pointer with 7:48 to play in the first half, but that seemed to wake up the Flyers and they closed the half on a 17-4 run and led 30-24 at halftime.

Dayton then took control of the game with an 11-2 run to start the second half and led 41-26 after Dyshawn Pierre hit two free throws with 16:19 to play.

The Flyers (12-7, 2-3 in the Atlantic 10) then maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way. Duquesne managed to get to within 10 points twice but could not get any closer -- and Dayton coasted to the win.

Duquesne (7-13, 0-6 in the Atlantic 10), which fell to 1-8 in road games this year, was led by Jeremiah Jones and Winters, with 16 points each, and Marvin Binney, who scored a career-high 13.
